http://www.european-citizens-consultations.eu/

Welcome to the first pan-European Citizens’ Consultations!
"My hope is that this will be the beginning of a movement that will help to revitalise democracy in all of Europe. I promise that the Commission will listen and learn."
European Commission Vice-President Margot Wallström, October 2006
The European Citizens’ Consultations provide the first-ever opportunity for members of the public from all 27 Member States to debate the future of the European Union across the boundaries of geography and language. Citizens reflecting the diversity of the population are randomly chosen to take part in the deliberations, to identify common ground and to make recommendations to policy-makers as they prepare to take decisions on Europe's future.

The consultations create a truly European discussion, bringing citizens together at European events and linking simultaneous national debates on a shared agenda of ideas set by the citizens themselves. They establish a model for European citizens' participation on future topics with an innovative combination of professional facilitation and modern technology. The process is explained and illustrated in this video.

The ECC process is driven by partners in all Member States - independent and non-political European foundations and civil society organisations.

The European Citizens' Perspectives on the Future of Europe were finalised in May 2007 and are now available in Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Latvian, Slovenian and Spanish!
